VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES
Many people want to help the wild horses and ask us what they can do to help. There are plenty of things you can do. Here is a list of just a few ways you can participate:
Go to our Volunteer website - https://sites.google.com/a/hvwhpf.org/volunteering/ , join as a member by filling out the form, browse around and see if there are projects you want to volunteer for.
Sponsor a horse or horses - we have 150 horses in our care and understand that not everyone is able to adopt a horse. Sponsoring one or more of our horses is a terrific way to participate in a more hands on fashon. We have 1/4 Share, 1/2 Share, Full Horse, Easy and Make A Difference sponsorships - use the links on the "Donate or Sponsor" page to set up your sponsorship or contact us for more information about how you can be the sponsor of a beautiful Virginia Range wild horse!
Sponsor a section of fence – we have hundreds of thousands of feet of fence that were installed to keep the horses safe from our congested streets and up on the hillsides. You, your group, or your workplace can adopt a section of fence, walk it on a regular basis and report any areas that need mending or if the fence has been damaged. Contact us for more information.
Fence repair teams – often fencing needs to be tightened or a third wire added. We organize regular fencing parties to ensure the horses remain safely on the hillsides. Your help will be welcomed and appreciated.
Fund raising events – our organization is 100% funded from donations. If you’re interested in helping to organize an event or just help on the day of the event, we’d love to have you. We need people to help with a wine tasting, garage sale, and annual dinner fund raiser.
Report horses in the streets or injured horses – if you see horses in the streets, in any danger, or injured, please use this link to let us know >> REPORT AN INJURED OR AT RISK VR HORSE(S) Include the street(s) where the horses have been seen, a description of the horses(s) and any other pertinent information that will helps us find the horses.
